Regional Attractions Tubing the Esopus River outside of Phoenicia

Adventuring into the surrounding countryside, you'll find hiking trails, ski slopes, antique shops and family attractions within minutes.

County Route 47 (Slide Mountain Road), leading to Full Moon's doorstep, is home to three state trailheads. Giant Ledge Trail, just up the road, carries hikers to one of the most scenic vistas in all New York.

Full Moon is also centrally located for the Catskills finest skiing. Belleayre Mountain is fifteen minutes away, Hunter Mountain and Plattekill a half-hour and Windham, forty-five minutes.

In the warmer months, fly fishermen from around the country are drawn here to three of the Northeast's most fabled trout streams - the Beaverkill, East Branch of the Delaware and the Esopus Creek….which literally runs along the property's edge, winding through the mountains to the Ashokan Reservoir.

At Phoenicia, others enjoy tubing the creek and shopping at Catskill Corners, home of the world's largest kaleidoscopes. And speaking of kaleidoscopes, a stroll through the charming and eccentric shops in nearby Woodstock is a colorful adventure in itself! Antiquing in Margaretville and other neighboring towns unearths even more hidden treasures.

After an invigorating day on the nearby slopes or at the resort, enjoy an exquisite dinner at the Full Moon Café. Our Chef applies classic techniques with a New American flair to make every dining experience at Full Moon a celebration of fresh cuisine. Following dinner, relax with an appertif, and the good company of friends and family. After a comfortable night in one of the facilities lodges or cottages, wake up to a special buffet breakfast before hitting the slopes or the trails again.

A centerpiece of winter fun at Full Moon is downhill skiing & snowboarding. Belleayre Mountain, just fifteen minutes down the road, has become one of the premier family ski centers in the state. Hunter Mountain and Ski Plattekill, each about a thirty minute drive and Windham Mountain, forty five minutes away, have also long been considered superb Catskill Mountain ski areas.

With over a hundred acres of fields, meadows and wooded areas, Full Moon is a wonderful site for rustic (ungroomed) cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Guests are asked to bring their own equipment. For those who prefer highly groomed trails and ski rentals, the Frost Valley XC Ski Center is just a few miles away.
